Hello! I'm Jason Howell, podcast veteran since 2005 for TWiT and CNET. The times they are a-changin’, so I’ll get right to the good stuff: I’m going independent!
Why now? Well, after 13 years of producing and hosting technology podcasts for TWiT, I’ve been let go amidst a tumultuous climate for podcasting and advertising. I’ll share my thoughts about my tenure at TWiT in the coming days, but suffice it to say, we parted ways on great terms and I wish the TWiT team nothing but the best as they move forward into a challenging 2024. For now, though, let’s get to what’s pressing for me at this moment.
If you do only one thing right now, please subscribe to my free Substack newsletter at FreeJasonNewsletter.com. This is how I will communicate all my exciting doings in the coming weeks and months, so subscribing here will ensure you won’t miss a single detail. I will have news to share in a few days, so you won’t have to wait long to hear from me either.
If you have room for more and want to get in on the ground floor of this exciting journey with me, please visit my newly spun-up Patreon. It’s easy to remember: Patreon.com/JasonHowell.
There, you can directly support the creation of some of the cool projects I have in the works for as little as $5 per month. I will share more details on those projects VERY soon. Right now though, the Patreon is meant to support the development and launch of these projects and give you advanced insight as well as a voice into how it all goes down. You’ll be fundamental to how I build this business, meaning you can expect to be included in the process of piecing it all together with exclusive perks for founders like you. In the long term, you can expect the Patreon to evolve into something more substantial. I know it’s all a bit vague at the moment but be certain that your help will be instrumental to what I’m creating in real time.
I’m excited. I’m terrified. I’m all the things, if I’m completely honest! But I’m also determined to make this work. The reality is that I’m going to need your help to pull it all off.
THANK YOU for always being so supportive of the work that I’ve done throughout the last few decades. Now, let’s take it to the next level together.
Jason
As a long time TWIT fan and fan of your I'm sorry to read this news. I have appreciated your insights over the years on all the shows you've been on and know you will have continued success. It always tugged at my nostalgia strings on AAA when you'd mention the days of "rooting and roming". You always got me motivated to keep pushing the boundaries in those early builds.
I read once that with podcasts us listeners develop a personal connection because you all are literally in our heads. Thank you for occupying that space.
All the best to you and your family.

Let's go, baby! Super excited for this and for you, Jason.
