AHHHH. That is the sound of a podcaster who realizes that he has recorded his last podcast episode of the year. Done. In the can. He still has some editing to do, and episodes of AI Inside will still be published through the next two weeks, but the recordings are DONE. He is happy. He is also referring to himself in the third person. He really needs to stop that.
Switching to first person: Say, I have another thing to announce! In the past month or so, I’ve tacked on a few things to my plate to ensure I can continue doing this independent thing and stay somewhat solvent in 2025. On top of the podcasts I normally do and the YouTube channel I normally fuel, I’m writing for Micro Center News and Digital Trends as you already know. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL.
Act now and you’ll also receive… ME joining up with the DTNS team to write and host the new and upcoming Daily Tech News Show Briefing! The new show will run Monday through Friday but I’ll be involved on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
I am ecstatic because it officially brings me back into regular collaboration with the guy who got me into podcasting, Tom Merritt. When I was envisioning the idea of going independent, I often pictured some sort of reconnection with Tom and the crew. Being an occasional guest on the DTNS podcast has been great, don't get me wrong, but joining the team more formally and having the chance to collaborate with them weekly is even better!
Tom announced the news on the DTNS Patreon and his personal Substack, so go there and read about it because the news goes beyond this new show. DTNS, the show you have known and loved for years, isn’t going anywhere. The DTNS Briefing is an addition to the empire.
As for the Daily Tech News Show Briefing specifically, here are the basics you need to know:
WHEN: Starting Monday, January 13, 2025, right after CES!
WHAT: 20-30 minutes of focused tech news breakdowns and analysis, audio only.
WHO: Me, Tom Merritt, Robb Dunewood, Huyen Tue Dao, and Jenn Cutter.
WHERE and HOW MUCH: The DTNS podcast feed (free with ads), and Substack (paid without ads).
If you want a sense of what it will be like, this from last week is along the lines of what you can expect. Mark me EXCITED!
I envision next month being a complete adjustment as I balance all of these new responsibilities. But I am UP for the challenge, and so happy with the direction of it all.
Happiest of holidays to you all, and thank you so much for supporting me in the many ways you have this year. It’s been a learning and growing experience. I will be publishing in some form over the coming weeks some of the things I’ve learned this year, some of the goals I have for next year, and more. It’s time to take stock and move forward!
